Tricky questions at job interviews

“Be yourself and answer what you really think” are very important at job interviews. However, to avoid being too nervous is essential to have the knowledge of some questions that may be asked and to have some guidelines about what it is expected to answer, although it is better not to lie and be yourself. You must have in mind that the candidate who fits the most in the new job is searched  in the selection progress, not the best one. Some possible questions could be:

Why have you been so much time without a job? Through this question the interviewer wants to know if the candidate has been rejected many times in other selections processes. You should think about which arguments you can say to create a good impression of yourself.

Why do you want to change your job? What is tried to be known is if you say negative aspects of your actual or last work. Not to specify lots of negative points is recommended, and it is better to say positive aspects, for instance that you want to continue becoming a better professional.

Which are your expectations about salary? That question is a bit tricky and it is important to know how to manage it. One possibility would be to say that a salary according to the job  and its responsibilities would be expected. You could get information about which is the salary average of your job.
Which are your goals in 5 years? It is important to show that you have clear ideas and objectives in the future. You shouldn’t specify a lot and you should talk in general. For instance, “My main goal is working in a company that can let me become a better professional”.

What do you do in your free time?  You must match this question with requirements and functions of the job.

Have you had any problems with any of your last bosses?  The answer must be related to some situations but without specifying too much. You must take into account that the true can be checked.

What do you know about our company? It is important to get information about the company, how does it work… before having an interview. Not knowing anything usually creates a bad impression.

Why do you want to work with us? It is advisable not to say that your last Jobs haven’t been good, but you have to talk about your expectations and motivations about the new job.
